Niki Farrell Bio

Niki Farrell is an oil painter born and raised in north shore of Boston, MA. She began her career as a professional artist at 15 years old, but her artistic path really began as a child. She was raised by a mother who was trilingual and a father who was a fine artist. From a young age, Niki was inspired by her surroundings and educated about the importance of the humanities and cultures of the world.

At a young age, she began to exhibit her artwork at Rockport Art Association and Marblehead Festival of Arts for several years. Niki continued her art education at Pennsylvania State University and in Aix en Provence, France. During her time in France, Niki's art underwent a significant period of growth, resulting in more expression and vibrancy in her landscape paintings. She gained a keen interested in the architecture and alleys of southern Europe. The European collection Niki created has been exhibited in several solo shows from 2015-2017.

Niki Farrell's art continues to flourish and develop as she has shifted her focus to more local work of New England. Similar to the interest of European alleys, the quaint streets of Beacon Hill capture Niki’s eye. Niki tries to capture the moment in quotidian time that people may overlook. "I find that in the modern day world, man is so entwined in the cycle of the corporate world, and often times the simplistic beauty that surrounds us is forgotten. If you take a moment to just stop and breathe to take in these special moments, it is enlightening what brightness and serenity that may bring,” says Niki.

Niki lives locally in downtown Boston and derives all her inspiration from local spots. She has been showing at Upstairs Downstairs Antiques since 2017 amongst other local galleries in SoWa and the North Shore. In 2018, one of Niki’s sailboat paintings was auctioned off at Eldred’s auction house. In addition to gallery showings, Niki’s unique style brings attention from private collectors for commission work.

Niki Farrell's life outside of art is also demanding. She also works as an intensive care cardiac surgery nurse, working at top institutions like Duke University Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital. Niki believes that her experiences with patients and witnessing the fragility of life also influences her ability to appreciate life and the beauties it brings to us.
